Custom Compound Bow Strings

CUSTOM COMPOUND BOW STRINGS

MADE BY TRAVIS @ Rabid Hunters Archery

Below is a Father and young son's Deer Hunting Story.......  review from an excited dad after installing new custom made string and cable set
from Rabid Hunters

I received this message from a customer that had me make him a set of
Animal Instinct strings and cables.just had to share this hunting story!
(A vivid storyteller)

Hey Travis!
You remember those pink strings I had you build up for my kid for our Martin Moabs? They got him his first
kill this year. No horns, but no happier kid on the face of the earth. If you can get that picture to open up, the strings are almost as shiny as his face! She came in on our ground blind, he took her at 23 yards in the driver's side with 2219 XX75 aluminium's; upon autopsy, blew a rib right in half upon entry, did a double lung whammy all the way through & a clean exit out the other side. Couldn't find the arrow in the snow & it was getting dark; she bailed off the side of a steep hill we were hunting off of. We wanted to let her sit a bit, but it started snowing, so we had to get tracking before it got covered up, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway, she was a done deal. We started to loose the blood trail in the snow where she decided to go straight down the steep part of the mountain, but by that time she was out of gas. Four of us looked for her for about a half hour with flashlights & found her piled up where there was no vehicle access other than pack her up the mountain that she came down from, so we dumped the innards to lighten the load & dragged her back up to the top of the mountain. All told she maybe went 140 yards under power sidehilling on the trail before she went straight down the hill and gravity helped more than we would have liked to the tune of 150 yards or so. He got tired of me wheezing like I wuz gonna die so he grabbed her and dragged her up the hill himself. Like a hero I took his heavy coat, flashlight and knife, a concerned father would never want to see his son fall and cut himself during a pack out, and I held the light for him so he could see the way up the hill. I was able to offer him lots of encouragement along the way, and I think it helped a lot because he was so thankful to be at the top when he finally got there. I even had a bottle of water waiting for him, he can never say his dad doesn't care.
I was able to dump an older doe also on the previous day; we were both together when we each took our animal, the first animal either of us have ever taken with a bow. It was a great time to be together & have our equipment perform like it needed to. Thanks to you for being a part of it all. In installing your strings, I don't know if it's supposed to work like it did all the time, but when i restrung his bow with your strings, it was as straightforward as it could be, string loop install, peep sight & serve it off, drop away rest cord install & serve, crank her down to attack weight & shoot. Strings line up perfectly with wheels & cams, no needing to twist string more or less like I've heard people talk about, we just put it on & drilled the target, and the deer.
Thanks again for a great set of strings from Rabid Hunters! Merry Christmas to you all!  Anthony

Archery , Hunting and the Outdoors ,Stories ,T ips and Gear ...

ARCHERY - HUNTING - AND  THE  OUTDOORS

STORIES - TIPS - AND  GEAR

Hello, my name is Travis Newsome and in my blog I want to share information with my fellow outdoors enthusiast. I'd like for my (our ) Blogger to be a place you will feel free to share your personal stories and experiences of the outdoors ....hunting ,scouting ,or trying out your new equipment .I plan on posting some of my favorite hunting memories ,hopefully you will comment with some of your own .I have found that true hunters don't try to  "one up" the other guy ,instead a true hunter loves to share and  listen .I myself have learned a lot from my family of hunters .Most of the can tell tales of their hunts so vivid that they take you along with them in their pursuits of an animal.I  think I enjoy the after the hunt , sitting around with our gang in camo ,reliving the days events almost as much as the hunt itself. We actually have some very good re-enactments that goes along with the stories, that will have your sides hurting from the laughter
My personal favorite season I guess is deer hunting season . Preferably with my trusted compound bow,but I still love to get my shotgun out any chance I get.I don't pretend to be an expert ,I am just like most hunters ......an average hunter that Loves to hunt! I have went out on a hunt and everything went smooth and just fell into place ..deer moving under my tree stand ,no wind ,bow ready.take aim ....kerrrrrr smack and get the job done! .Then ,there are the times I have had  when I might as well stayed home in bed and at least maybe dream of a whomp daddy buck just waiting for me to draw down on him. So,like I said I just live for the hunt with family and friends .

****OHIO ANTLER SHED HUNTING****

Here in Ohio, it is time to start looking for antler sheds and I am hoping to find time for just that within the next few days. I will detail any findings I or any of my other hunter friends have. Hunting for sheds is an adventure for me and a time to get out and see what I might need to do on our property to insure a good deer population. Also it is a  fun thing to do with our youngsters. I have two children, Madyson 13 and Ryan 8. I am very fortunate in that they both love the outdoors! Both love to hunt also.I plan on taking them with me any time they want to go.They both have very keen eyes and know how to search for tips of antlers sticking out of brush and tall grasses etc. They will probably find them before their O'le Dad does! Ha ha I would love to hear any of your adventures in antler shed findings..Will hopefully be adding some pictures soon. Til then, I say good luck my friends! Travis www.rabidhunters.com

2/6/2013 Just an update ...To my disappointment I haven't found any sheds but I am gonna blame it on my stores being very busy and I just can't find the time to get out in the woods .I guess that would be a big help in finding them ,ha ha.....So , if you are fortunate and have found any please post in comment and BRAG A LITTLE and rub it in ...lol ,Travis   www.rabidhunters.com

I also hope to upload picture of some of my favorite Archery products and give a review on them.
I would love any comments, reviews, etc. on the products I mention or if you have any archery products that you have added to your archery equipment I'd love to hear your honest opinion. This first picture is of a Sure Loc with retina compound bow sight, and I will have to admit I have only seen them ,touched them ,then sold them .........while thinking of owning one myself someday , HaHa
I sell quite a few of these sights, worldwide and all my customer reviews have been excellent. With several repeat buys on them .
Isn't she a beauty !!

Anyone want to give me a comment and put your 2 cents worth in on this ??
Well til next time I get a few minutes of free time  ,which seems hard to find here lately. As a good Brazilian friend of mine,Vincente Costa just wrote to me today  .....It hard to find time to enjoy the finer thing in life and I'll add to enjoy my favorite sports , archery  & hunting of any kind ...

****UPDATE ON OHIO SHED HUNTING****     RE : 1st shed found

2/07/13
Just a quick update .I still haven't had the time to look for sheds and am wondering if this just might not be my year for finding them early .I have the Flu /Cold, and it is all I could  do just to help get things under control at the shop to the point I could just stay in touch via computer or text .But there is a new antler shed in the garage today !!!

My dad , Kenny was the first to find antlers while out riding around with my Uncle Floyd in his Polaris 4x4 .They were just out on a routine check on the equipment we leave in the woods like tree stands ,blinds ,feeders and game camera's You know the drill ,checkin on things such as ....batteries , game feeders was in need of maintenance and feed.Run by the hunting shacks as we like to call our hunting blinds we built and take a quick look on all hunting trails for fallen trees and the like. The list goes on and on.  So technically,  hunting sheds was not on his top priority  for the day.....But always a welcome treat to find .

They were just coming up to a feeder to check in on and low and behold there was a shed right under feeeder.I think my dad and my uncle Floyd seen them at about the same time.I wonder if he was trying to tell us something ,by dropping them under feeder, haha maybe rethink what kind of feed
we are  buying .
